SWD won a nail-biting match by 2 wickets with four balls to spare. Northerns, thanks to Francois le Clus (62) posted 139/9 in its innings. Luthando Mnyanda (3/13 in four overs) bowled a magnificent spell.
Waldo Lategan (43; 31 balls) was instrumental in SWD's run chase, but it was Pieter Stuurman (26*; 2x4's) who took SWD over the line.
In the three day match, Northerns scored 292 in its first innings and secured a 12 run lead after SWD replied with 280, thanks to Waldo Lategan (119) who scored his second first class hundred. Northerns was with its back to the wall at 118/8, but escaped before it declared its second innings at 272/8.
This was thanks to an unbroken partnership of 154 between Shaun von Berg (84*) and JP de Villiers (88*). SWD which was set a target of 285 declared (in 44 overs), fought hard to prevent a defeat and was at 108/8 at stumps.
