PLETTENBERG BAY - Seven primary schools from Bitou converged on Plettenberg Primary School on Saturday 9 November to participate in the KFC Mini Cricket Regional competition.
About 120 aspirant cricketers were part of the South Western Districts cricket festival, with U-7, U-8, U-9 and U-13 teams from Greenwood Bay, Phakamisani, Kranshoek and Plett, among others, taking part in the Garden Route Badgers event.
While teams pitted their skills against each other on small pitches, the SWD officials also held coaching clinics for the boys and girls.
"The day was a success, despite uncertain weather conditions," said Limpho Ntshudu, Mini Cricket Regional Coordinator.
'Bigger dream'
"But the sun came out and the kids had great fun. Out of the 10 Bitou primary schools, seven participated, a commendable feat.

"We have to say a huge thanks to the coaches/volunteers and parents for participating in the programme.
"It always gives children the opportunity to have a bigger dream of themselves. Children from all walks of life were present and enjoyed themselves. For others, it left them with a fond memory.
"Also a big thanks to Cricket South Africa and KFC for the continued support," said Ntshudu.
