KNYSNA CRICKET NEWS - Schools from all over the Knysna municipal area converged on the Knysna Primary School sport fields for a day of mini cricket, organised by Kilt (Knysna Initiative for Learning and Teaching) and the Knysna Sports Academy.
The fun school sport was held on Saturday 17 April, and saw nine schools and 11 teams (including two girl's teams) from Knysna and the surrounding areas take part in the first organised school cricket day in over a year.
For many of the schools their learners have not taken part in any sport since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, so the cricket day was a special occasion for all involved.
The children, boys and girls alike, converged on the fields in the centre of town in the early morning with games starting at 08:30.

The team from the Knysna Sports Academy (KSA) designated each school's team a coach who would stick with them for the duration of the day.

The rugby field was split up into three smaller fields on which the games would be played, with the addition of a fourth field on the mini astro turf.
The event was blessed with phenomenal weather as the sun shone throughout the day with no cloud in sight. The action wrapped up earlier than expected, with the final matches finishing at about 14:00.
