SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Returning to their home turf for their weekly club run, runners of Knysna Marathon Club (KMC) tackled a 28km run around the outskirts of Knysna this past weekend.
The route took them along the N2 before heading down the Red Bridge and returning to their starting point at the Caltex garage on Waterfront Drive.
They were treated to some chilly weather, prime for a long run. According to Melikhaya Msizi, KMC club captain, the group of 12 enjoyed the challenge and the special meaning behind the run.
"The run was really good, we really enjoyed it. It was dedicated to Women's Day," he said.
Msizi said they have been doing these outings since February and the runs serve a dual purpose: it is a fun outing while also providing important training.
Every week they tackle a new set of challenges by choosing routes of various distances around Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Sedgefield. In recent weeks they have traversed routes around Knysna's forests (also a Mandela Day project), which was followed with a run around Plett, and then a run in the Slow Town.
This weekend they will be running around Knysna again.
