KNYSNA ATHLETICS NEWS - People from far and wide flocked to Pezula Resort Hotel and Spa for the first ever Cupid Run presented by KnysnaX Sporting Events on Saturday 13 February.
The race, which was informal and more in the name of fun than anything else, was run over 4,8km across the Pezula Championship Course, traversing cart paths all along the course's back nine holes.
This portion of the golf course is known for its stunning views of the Indian Ocean, which offered runners extra motivation to push through the hilly and testing route.
The race was the first organised by KnysnaX, after their trail running series which was planned for early January was cancelled due to Covid-19 lockdown regulations. But, organisers were not deterred and were instead determined to spread their love of running on the East Head to as many people as possible - and what better way to do that than to organise a run on Valentine's weekend?
Runners were given two hours between 17:00 and 19:00 to complete their run, setting off in staggered stages to allow for sufficient social distancing at the starting line.

Once they were out on the course, however, all their troubles (other than the uphills on the course) seemed to melt away as they marvelled at the combined views of the ocean and the golf course.
While the event was timed through a non-contact system, the majority of people took part to simply have some fun and spread the Valentine's Day love.
Once participants wrapped up their run, they were able to enjoy some downtime at the restaurant in the golf course clubhouse before setting off to enjoy the rest of their weekend.
Father and son duo Cameron and Calvin Forbes ran side by side for the duration of the route.
Professional SA golfer Dean Burmester and his son Jordan clock their time at the end of the race.
