PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Ikhwezi Political Movement (IPM) hosted its first elective and policy conference in Plettenberg Bay last week where it elected its party executive. The majority of the executive members are women, including IPM president Nokuzola Kolwapi.
“Over 80% of our executive leadership are women. This is a huge achievement, as we are making history. We will also be the first political party to elect a female mayor [if in power]. We were able to adopt our strategic aims and objects, which will form the framework of our manifesto,” she said.
Kolwapi said the aims and objectives of IPM are to introduce a local party that will address local issues, promote economic opportunities to benefit all, attract investment that will promote job creation and entrepreneurship, support and grow tourism - especially in townships’ economy - support and advance the fight against gender based violence, and strengthen safety and security and social cohesion.
The elected leaders are Party President Nokuzola Kolwapi, Chairperson Nophumzile Khumbaza, Deputy Chairperson Anelisa Ndanase, Secretary General Lebuhang Nooi, Deputy Secretary Sinovuyo Kitsi and Treasurer Asanda Mandoyi.
