NATIONAL NEWS - An 'entity' is soliciting funds asking individuals to make donations in the form of bitcoin.
The entity is using the descriptor, Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
"We want to state that the Solidarity Fund will never make a request for bitcoin payments and that you can make your donations via our website through our secure payment mechanisms that have been set up for this purpose," said spokesperson Viwe Tlaleane.
"We appreciate every contribution made to the fund to help us in our fight against Covid-19."
Tlaleane said they will only communicate with people through their official channels and will let you know if they have any additional platforms of communication:
