NATIONAL NEWS - A high-speed chase from a robbery in Durban last week led cops and security to the North Coast, where they might have lost their quarry, if not for a hot tip from a local farmer.
The three men were cornered and arrested inside Palm Lakes Family Estate last Wednesday.
IPSS Electronic Security CEO Frank Labidi said they received a call from the Umhlali Saps task team, informing them that a suspected stolen vehicle had entered the estate.
He said the suspected, stolen vehicle was found at one of the estate houses.
All entrances were blocked off and the vehicle “jammed” in preventing escape.
“We gave Saps tactical task team access to the estate as well as Kobus Burger, who is the risk manager for Toyota.
“One suspect is allegedly linked to other crimes in the greater Durban area and no further info can be given, as the case is under investigation,” said Labidi.
Estate manager Ross Bishop said one of arrested men had gained access to the estate as a visitor to a tenant.
“We do not tolerate crime, we are willing to work with the Saps with any investigations that may assist in keeping Palm Lakes as safe as possible for our residents.
“We are constantly looking at ways to upgrade our security CCTV and access control systems with technology such as License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras and software, to stay ahead of the game.
“Thank you to Saps and IPSS for acting quickly and efficiently and as a result, apprehending these men without any issues,” said Bishop.
