The taxis were travelling along the Soweto Highway and Mentz Road in Booysens, south of Johannesburg, when they were pulled over by Metro cops and found to be unfit to be on the road.
Fraudulent permits and licence discs
Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said during the joint operation involving all Traffic Law Enforcement Departments in Gauteng, that fraudulent professional driving permits and licence discs were uncovered.
He said the operation was focused at reducing road fatalities and bad driver behaviour.
