NATIONAL NEWS - The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) says the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) would be remiss in its duties if it failed to properly probe the leaked Gupta emails simply because it believes they were stolen and cannot be admitted as evidence in court.
The City Press published a report on Sunday saying that prosecutors guiding the investigation believe there’s insufficient evidence to act against President Jacob Zuma’s allies implicated in the so-called "Gupta leaks".
The NPA has lashed out at the report, saying that it’s a sensationalist attempt to discredit its work.
It also accused the journalist who wrote the story of not speaking to the prosecutors assigned to its specialised commercial crime unit working on the case.
But Outa’s Wayne Duvenage says there’s strong evidence to prosecute those implicated in the leaked emails.
