NATIONAL NEWS - Executive Mayor for George, Melvin Naik today expressed his shock at the sudden passing of Councillor Luxamile (Lux) Xesi who lost his life in a house fire this morning. Ald. Naik visited Cnclr Xesi's wife and children and offered condolences on behalf of the George City Council.
Councillor Xesi served the community of Ward 11 in the George Municipality.
The cause of the blaze is as yet unknown and the DA will monitor the investigation closely.
Councillor Xesi served as an ANC Councillor from 2000 until 2006 prior to joining the DA as a member and activist in 2011. Councillor Xesi played a key role he in the DA’s winning Ward 11 for the first time. He was elected as a DA Councillor in the 2016 local government elections.
