Amid conflicting statements by her mother Liesl on the matter, police said no new information had surfaced by Thursday.
Liesl told Rekord on Wednesday: “Initially it looked like it was a suicide, but now new information has emerged, but I don’t want to pre-empt the outcome of the investigation.”
Confusion arose when she told several media outlets her daughter indeed committed suicide and that “she would never make a premature statement [to the contrary] as the police was still investigating the matter”.
But on Wednesday evening, she again raised doubts about assumptions that her daughter had committed suicide. She repeated the statement she had made to Rekord in this regard to a News24 reporter, using the same words.
