PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Kranshoek youngsters learned through play as Youth Month was wrapped up in the Bitou community.
The event was hosted by the Kranshoek Library and included an array of educational activities for the local youth, including various games.
Another important activity was a kidnapping simulation by local police to show the youngsters what to do in such a situation. They were also motivated to stay away from drugs and alcohol and received some training from local martial arts sensei Jonathan Jansen.
"Discipline is one of the most important traits learned through sports," Jansen said.
Ward 7 Councillor Annelise Olivier was the keynote speaker at the event. She told the youth that 47 years ago, the youth of South Africa fought for good education.
"They were not interested in drinking, smoking and taking drugs because they wanted a good education," she said.
"Kids, it's important to go to school to study and get an education because there was a generation that fought for what you have today. Do not disappoint them. Attend school, study hard and achieve your dreams."
