GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for wind and waves along parts of the Western Cape coastline.
The warning is in effect from 12:00 SAST on Monday, 15 September, until 24:00 SAST on Tuesday, 16 September.
A cold front is expected to pass south of the country on Monday, followed by a high-pressure system.
This will bring strong to gale-force westerly to south-westerly winds of 50 to 70 km/h, gusting up to 80–100 km/h, between Cape Point and Cape Agulhas from Monday afternoon.
By Monday evening, conditions will extend eastwards to Plettenberg Bay, continuing into Tuesday.
Winds will be accompanied by south-westerly waves of 4.0 to 6.0 metres, resulting in very rough and choppy seas.
Impacts:
Hazardous navigation at sea, with small vessels and personal watercraft such as kayaks at risk of capsizing.
Localised disruption to beachfront activities, as well as to small harbours and ports, is possible for short periods.
