GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Wilderness Festival, now in its fourth year, takes place from 12 to 14 April and the organisers are inviting anyone who would like to be a part of the festival to contact them (see details below).
This year, the festival will be known as the Investgold Wilderness Festival after it piqued the interest of one of the biggest suppliers of gold coins.
"We are extremely excited about this year's festival. As per usual, the festival will spill from the Wilderness Hotel onto the Wilderness Common, showcasing the hospitality that makes Wilderness a sought-after tourist destination. Having Investgold join us in this venture enables us to offer festinos golden entertainment," said festival organiser Jacques Pratt.
Held at the Wilderness Hotel, the festival has developed a reputation as one that caters for families, fitness fanatics and the youth, and this year promises to be no different.
On offer
The annual Two Lagoons Marathon in Wilderness will from now be known as the Investgold Two Lagoons Marathon, which will now be part of the festival and will take place on Saturday 13 April. The morning's races include distances of 30, 10 and 5km.
SFM Radio will be broadcasting from the festival on this day to ensure that all are kept up-to-date with all the day's fun.
The biggest draw though is, of course, the music, offering 25 hours of live music throughout the festival, with the talented local artists making up the bulk of these.
The event also offers an admirable selection of arts and crafts, food and drinks and, of course, entertainment to keep the children occupied while their parents partake in adult activities.
The Kids Zone is equipped with jumping castles, face-painting stations, drawing stations and so much more. Trained caregivers will be on site to fulfil the children's entertainment needs making sure the fun never stops. This zone further provides safety for children with its special signing-in procedure. Strict measures are in place to ensure that the child only leaves with the individual who signed him or her in.
