GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Residents of the Garden Route, specifically Sedgefield, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, can expect some good rainfall from today to Thursday if the current conditions persist.
According to Weather SA forecaster Wayne Venter, an “intense system causing rainfall for the next few days” is on its way to the area.
Venter said the strong onshore flow resulting from the approaching system can result in good rainfall, along with a cold front.
“The cold front moving over the Cape will weaken later today (Tuesday, August 15) and reach the Garden Route tonight with rainfall occurring in the Sedgefield/Knysna/Plett area from tonight. By tomorrow, a strong upper air system moves over the area with a strong onshore flow. This will allow for good rainfall across the Garden Route from tomorrow, into Thursday morning,” said Venter.
He added that it is “highly likely” that snow will fall on the mountains from Wednesday to Thursday, which means cold temperatures can be expected for the next two to three days.
“Maximum temperatures for Wednesday and Thursday will reach around 12°C to 13°C, with the system likely to clear by Friday but with cold conditions remaining,” he said.
