KNYSNA NEWS & VIDEO - A drenched town greeted residents heading to work this morning as Knysna had strong rains last night, starting during the afternoon before.
Weather SA forecaster Wayne Venter’s predictions from Tuesday were accurate when the welcome rain started falling from Wednesday evening and persisted almost continuously throughout the night.
According to Venter, Knysna received 38mm of rain up until 08:00 this morning, Thursday August 17.
“Unfortunately most of the rain did not fall in the catchment areas, but there should be an improvement in the dam’s water level,” he added.
Venter’s original prediction stated that rain would continue all through today, clearing up towards Friday, August 18.

One lane closed at Ganzvlei
It has been confirmed that the slow lane at Ganzvlei, between Knysna and Sedgefield, has been closed.
Spokesperson for the Knysna municipality Chumisa Kalawe said that a provincial clean-up team is currently clearing debris from a mudslide that occurred due to the heavy rain.
She added that traffic would not be adversely affected as one lane is still available for traffic heading towards Sedgefield.
Another report of traffic being backed up outside Plettenberg Bay heading to Knysna is being investigated with information to follow.
Residents will be updated as soon as further information is received.
