KNYSNA NEWS - Fashion lovers descended upon a restaurant on Thesen Island on Friday 8 November, to be part of a Vintage with Love fund-raising event, aimed at raising funds for a preschool in Nekkies, Knysna, and the NGO The Click Foundation, which helps under-serviced primary schools improve foundational literacy, numeracy and digital skills.
All funds raised will be used to directly benefit the Knysna community.
Renata Wilson, Val Potgieter, Fran de Jager, Cheryl Mulder and Jane Shelton put together an outstanding event, attended by 105 women from Knysna.
Inspired all
The guest speaker, Kim Potgieter, inspired all who attended. The day ended with fabulous music by Shaza.
The charity Vintage with Love was founded by Leigh Ord and Jacquie Myburgh Chemaly.
Ord explained the simple concept behind Vintage with Love: "The idea was to appeal to all the stylish ladies in Knysna to donate those clothes at the back of their cupboards that they never wear but that are still in excellent condition - and to turn them into funds so desperately needed by literacy charities around South Africa.
"It's a type of fashion recycling - turning something that is no longer worn, into money that is so desperately needed."
