BITOU NEWS - Members of the public are advised that there are currently six (6) wildfires in mountainous terrain within the Bitou municipal area.
Four (4) of these fires are higher up in the mountain and two (2) of these fires are of concern in the Wittedrift and Crags area.
The South African National Parks has scheduled a reconnaissance flight for early tomorrow morning (19 June) to investigate the wildfires higher up in the mountain, whilst Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) Fire & Rescue Services and Bitou Fire & Rescue Services are responding to the two (2) wildfires more south, which are in closer proximity to infrastructure.
Report wildfires and other emergency-related incidents to the Garden Route Emergency Call Centre at 044 805 5071.
