GARDEN ROUTE NEWS & VIDEO - Six wildfires are currently burning in mountainous terrain within the Bitou municipal area, as of 20:00 on 17 June.

Four of these fires are higher up in the mountain and two are of concern in the Wittedrift and Crags area, according to information posted by the Garden Route District Municipality(GRDM).

SANPARKS has scheduled a reconnaissance flight for early tomorrow morning (Tuesday) to investigate the wildfires higher up in the mountain, while (GRDM) fire and rescue service and Bitou fire and rescue service are responding to the two wildfires more south, which are in closer proximity to infrastructure.
