KNYSNA NEWS - It appears that a Knysna thief has crime down to an art after four teenagers' paintings went missing recently.
One of the victims is Knysna High School Grade 10 learner Alyssa Coon (15), who was one of several youngsters who showcased their art projects during the school's annual art programme fashion show just over a week ago.
The young aspiring artist's mother Amy Coon said her daughter and several other peers handed in art projects to be displayed during the show on 10 May.
"The paintings were displayed in the passage outside the school hall where the show had taken place. This was for visitors to look at as they entered the school hall," Coon said.
She added that while the evening was a success, her daughter went to school the next week to find that her painting, of sneakers and flowers, was missing.
"Her teacher asked her if she had taken the painting home. She told her that she had not and was then informed that three other learners' paintings had also gone missing."
Coon said Alyssa was not very upset as she had already received marks for the project. "I am a bit more upset, because it is my daughter and the other learners' hard work that has been taken. I don't know if someone perhaps thought it would make a good Mother's Day gift."
Coon said she knows it is unlikely that the painting would find its way back to the school, but if anyone knows anything about the incident they could send her a WhatsApp message on 072 245 8799.
