Update
KNYSNA NEWS - The 65-year-old male suspect involved in a violent traffic incident in Knysna in which a traffic officer was seriously injured, was granted bail of R8000 on Monday 23 March.
The case has been postponed to 29 April for further investigation and a possible regional court screening.
The accused faces multiple serious charges, including:
- Attempted murder
- Reckless and negligent driving
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Failure to comply with the instruction of a peace officer
- Resisting arrest
The incident occurred between 22:00 and 23:00 on 3 March during a routine traffic stop on Main Street.
Traffic officer Linden White attempted to stop a vehicle carrying two men who had ignored a red traffic signal.
The situation escalated when the driver allegedly fled the scene.
White spent three days in hospital and is currently receiving treatment and rehabilitation for his injuries.
