Update
KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna traffic officer Linden White is recovering in hospital after he was allegedly struck by a motorist during a routine traffic stop that turned violent late on Tuesday 3 March, escalating into a dangerous confrontation at the Knysna Mall.
White, who is stationed at the Knysna Traffic Department, remains in a stable condition but was initially kept in hospital for observation due to a suspected concussion.
He sustained a head injury that required stitches and suffered injuries to his face, legs and hands during the incident. Although he is still in considerable pain, a close family member has confirmed that he had no broken bones.
White declined to comment on the matter.
A 65-year-old man appeared in the Knysna Magistrate’s Court today, Thursday 5 March, on charges of attempted murder and drunken driving.
The accused was remanded in custody for a formal bail application on 9 March.
