KNYSNA NEWS - The Pezula Golf Club hosted a highly successful golf day on Women's Day, 9 August, raising R100 000 for the Ingrid Diesel Scholarship for Girls Fund.
This remarkable effort will go towards supporting preschool fees for both boys and girls attending the Knysna Education Trust's model preschool, The Learning Tree.
The event saw participation from key figures in the sports world, including Barry Richards, whose late partner, Ingrid Diesel, is the inspiration behind the fund, and Quinton de Kock, the former captain of the Proteas cricket team.
It is especially significant that the event took place on Women's Day, as Ingrid Diesel was an inspiring businesswoman, mother, partner, and friend, and a role model for all women.
Special thanks are extended to her daughters Shelley, Debbie, and Pippa, who continue to uphold her legacy of community upliftment.
The success of this golf day would not have been possible without the generous contributions of many sponsors, supporters and Liz Keller, Ashley and Ashley Weir and their Pezula Golf Club team.
Barry Richards was instrumental in securing virtually all of the auction items, and the auctioneer Philip Powel is there every year to demonstrate his amazing skills.
Barry Richards said: "Can I just say what a pleasure it was for me to again support the memory of Ingrid at what was an amazing golf day.
"Ingrid would have looked down smiling. So many wonderful people to thank for an incredible auction list, and they all would be so happy with where the money is going and how many kids will benefit. Pezula did us proud."
