PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - It is not every day that you are greeted by the sight of a small aircraft "parked" in a residential area - but this is exactly what locals and residents saw after a pilot made an emergency landing in Erica Place off Bowtie Drive on Sunday.
While information around the incident remains sparse, local emergency authorities confirmed that the pilot of the small white and blue aircraft was forced to make the emergency landing mid-morning on Sunday 19 December.
"The pilot managed to bring the plane to a stop in the cul-de-sac. Fortunately there were no serious injuries. The pilot and his passenger were however taken to the MediClinic for a check-up," said Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association operations head Otto Olivier.
Parts of the N2 and Robberg Road in Plettenberg Bay were later closed for a short period for the aeroplane to be removed from the scene.
KPH reached out to the South African Civil Aviation Authority (Sacaa) for clarity about the incident, but did not receive feedback before going to print.
