KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna-Plett Herald has come across a series of sewage leaks in Knysna.
Sewage coming from a manhole in Upper Old Place, Knysna enters a rivulet that ultimately ends up flowing under George Rex Drive and into the Knysna Estuary.
The newspaper also went to the sites of continuing sewage leaks in Nelson Street in the town centre, and one alongside nearby Rawson Street.
Also in the town, a bad smell comes from the murky water channel running alongside Long Street, that discharges murky water into the estuary.
Among other sewage leaks discovered, there is an overflowing sewerage manhole at the garden waste dump site in Upper Old Place, which has formed a sewage rivulet that runs down a slope, the sewage also ultimately ending up in the estuary.

SANParks, which manages the Knysna Estuary, has been asked to supply the results of the most recent E.coli tests undertaken in the estuary to the Knysna-Plett Herald, together with information on the steps it is taking to minimise the E.coli threat to the estuary.
When received this too will be published.
