PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A group of about 20 women received their first free lessons in self-defence on Saturday 2 September at Phakamisani Primary School in Kwanokuthula, organised by two Plettenberg Bay women-orientated organisations.
The participating women were from Kwanokuthula, Pinetrees, Qolweni and Bossiesgif.
The collaboration between Hope Rising and Green Hearts, which started on Women's Day, expanded to include this self-defence clinic after Steven Jagga of Protection SA offered his services for free at the Women's Day function.
The event was arranged through the Kwano Crime Prevention Organisation.
"It's very exciting and we're hoping to bring this to all communities with Steve's assistance and cooperation," said Janet Harding of Green Hearts.
Green Hearts and Hope Rising are two non-profit organisations carrying out welfare initiatives among vulnerable community members affected by gender-based challenges.
"It shows collaboration works," said Harding.
