GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The newly evolved SA Council for Business Women (SACBW) is rolling out a nationwide roadshow series aimed at equipping the country's businesswomen with much-needed new tools, insights and knowledge that will enable them to rise into the future of business.
Says Elise Coetser, national leader of the council: "The Future Jobs 2018 Report by the World Economic Forum, for example, states, "New categories of jobs will soon emerge, partly or wholly displacing others" and, "The skills sets required in both old and new occupations will change."
Plus, we already find ourselves in the first stages of the fourth industrial revolution, where new technologies that change the way we do business, literally emerge almost daily.
Considering business developments such as these, we can all agree that the business landscape is changing irrevocably. The burning question, however, is: are we ready for it?
Practical discussions
The SACBW Empowerment Roadshow will take on the form of practical discussions and interactive workshops that will enable participants to walk away with new information they will be able to apply in their own businesses, immediately.
In addition to the "Future of Work", the topics on the table include: "The Importance of Coaching the Younger Generation of Women in Business", "Understanding Millennials" and "The Unique Traits of Women that Future Business Desperately Need".
The SACBW is a 30-year old legacy brand that was originally established in a period when the world of work was mostly male-dominated, and women had to fight to take their rightful place on the business stage. The council is proud of its rich past and deeply grateful for every trailblazer of a businesswoman that paved the way and created a solid foundation for others to build on.
An evolving environment
However, as the world of work is rapidly transforming, the council realised it must evolve too. For this reason, the SACBW recently purposefully embarked on a process to reconnect with its true purpose and re-engineer its structure to ensure it can continuously add tangible value for all female entrepreneurs in South Africa. This process also led to the council's new slogan, which essentially captures the main reason for its existence: "Uniting all our businesswomen to lead the business evolution."
Coetser concludes: "We believe in the eternal words of WEB Dubois which is that there is no force equal to a woman determined to rise.
Now imagine what could become possible if powerful women across our country joined hands to rise? The SACBW aims to facilitate exactly that."
Garden Route event
The roadshow will be in the Garden Route on 11 April, at Pinnacle Point Clubhouse, Mossel Bay, 08:30 to 12:30. The fee is R250 per person (R50 discount for SACBW members).
Women can join online for a free six-month trial membership. Visit www.sacbw.org for more information.
