KNYSNA NEWS - The Rotary Club of Knysna recently hosted a highly successful e-waste collection day at Loerie Park, gathering two trailer loads of electronic items and raising over R5 000 in donations.
The funds will be allocated to Knysna's Pledge Nature Reserve, supporting its conservation efforts.
Rotarians, led by Louise Pannell, organised the e-waste project, ensuring responsible processing of the collected goods by LG E-Waste from George.
The event, that attracted a steady flow of participants, also raised awareness about the importance of proper e-waste disposal and recycling to minimise environmental impact.
Local schools, Thembelitsha Primary and Hornlee Primary, made substantial contributions.
The Rotary Environmental committee along with the dedicated e-waste removal team.
In addition to the e-waste collection project, the Rotary Club's Environment Committee initiated various undertakings, such as tree-planting events, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability.
The club's outstanding efforts were recognised with the prestigious Rotary Koos Burger Environmental Award.
The success of the e-waste collection day would not have been possible without the support and contributions of the Knysna community, who donated their electronic waste and made donations to the Pledge Nature Reserve.
