PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plett's volunteer first responders received a massive boost thanks to an anonymous donor.
Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) operations head Otto Olivier said that they recently received essential equipment to assist them in their efforts.
This includes an automated external defibrillator (AED) with an ECG function. "This machine is essential in any situation where CPR is taking place and could mean the difference between life and death," Olivier said.
Along with the AED they also received seven intermediate life support kit bags specifically made for medical rescue in rough terrain. "These bags will be stocked with consumables and lifesaving gear, ready to respond to the next emergency."

He said the equipment was donated by a supporter of the First Responders initiative who is currently abroad. "When our donor is back in the country, we will be sure to thank him in person. The generosity of our community is amazing and we thank you."
First Responders is a community-based volunteer group that provides assistance to the professional medical services. It is part of the PBCPA as a community support programme. First Responders volunteers fund their own fuel, phone costs, insurance, time and various other expenses.
