PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The town is buzzing with excitement as the Plett Arts Festival is in full swing.
The 11th edition of the festival got off to a very successful start with the Plett Arts Twilight Meander on 20 September - a series of art-related events in and around the coastal holiday town's centre.
Plett Tourism's Cindy Wilson-Trollip described the 10-day festival, which ends on 29 September, as a vibrant tapestry of creativity, conversation and entertainment.
The area around Main Street was buzzing with visitors, art enthusiasts and locals who came to enjoy a variety of exhibitions and other entertainment, including a performance by the Kranshoek Riel Dancers.

'Immersive experience'
"From the serene shores of the lagoon, through Plett's vibrant neighbourhoods to the bustling town centre, the artistic spirit of our coastal gem comes alive," Wilson-Trollip said. She added the festival promised an immersive experience of arts and culture including exhibitions by local and visiting artists - curated to provide a visually engaging experience.
Performances will include shows by comedian Kurt Schoonraad, and musicians Mel Botes and Jo Black.

Over 70 offerings
There are also various workshops and talks as well as the popular Plett Land Art Route, which finished its first showings at the Bronze Fields Farm, before moving on to Plett's beaches and lagoons and finally the Brackenburn Private Nature Reserve.
Over 70 exhibitions, workshops, shows and events are part of the Plett Arts Festival in 2024. Exhibitions will be hosted at a variety of venues including at the Plettenberg Bay Arts Association in Piesang Valley Hall, the Dallas Smith Gallery, Milkwood Gallery and other galleries and shops on Plett's Main Street.
"With over 70 exhibitions, shows, talks and events throughout the 10-day festival, each will be an intriguing adventure through a world of colour, conversation and creativity surrounded by the exquisite beauty of South Africa's favourite playground," Wilson-Trollip said.
