PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - When Roger Davis established the Paws Charity Shop in a small factory space in Plett in 2014, no one could imagine that it would become a huge success and ever-expanding enterprise.
After outgrowing its first premises, and as demand for its goods continued to grow, it occupied more space and then moved again to occupy a number of large factory spaces.
The shop continues to provide an impressive array of merchandise, all at rock-bottom prices. Bargain hunters love to browse here for clothing, furniture, kitchen appliances, books, artworks and much more.
There is even a "Corner of Collectibles" and the shop boasts the sale of a car and a boat in the past.
Since its inception, the shop has made an impressive contribution to the operating expenses of Plett Animal Welfare, ensuring the sustainability of its primary health care services to the needy cats and dogs in the larger Bitou area.
Roger Davis, who has worked tirelessly towards this remarkable success, is not only the shop supremo, he is also a wizard at repairing any broken appliance. Sandra Lawrence, the shop manager, is ably assisted by Bheki Ntshuntshe, Alex Mlotshwa and Debbie Collins and a team of energetic volunteers who help with a wide range of activities.
Roger Davis says, "We are grateful to the Plett community for their generous donations, including entire households of goods. We would like to invite more volunteers to join us - it is great fun working in the shop. Call Sandra on 084 734 4545".
Paws chairperson Di Butlin commented, "We are very grateful to everyone who has made a contribution to the success of this Plett icon. Long may it continue to serve our community and our animals in need".
