KNYSNA NEWS - In August each year, Oakhill School's Interact and SRC committees, traditionally led by matrics, hand over the reins to the new leaders for the coming year.
At a recent College assembly, outgoing SRC president Jamie Hattingh welcomed new president and vice president respectively Morgan Brymer and Bianca Mairs. Similarly, outgoing Interact president Michaela Vogt welcomed the new committee that will lead the club into the new year: Sophia Trollip (president), Richard Cross (vice president), Jessica Devine (secretary) and Shannon Amoils (treasurer).
Rotary Youth Committee chair Herb Hunter joined the assembly to present the Interact Club with a community service award for the excellent programme of community service activities during 2017-2018, and to officially welcome the new committee. Carol Wilkinson and Heather Thomas of Knysna Rotary Club were also present for the induction ceremony.

Interactors are an important part of the Knynsa Rotary Club and their active involvement in community upliftment activities illustrates the Rotary theme "Service above self". Oakhill's Interact Club runs various events throughout the year to raise funds for community projects in Knysna, with some of the projects including volunteering time and services at crèches and old age homes, running soup kitchens, food collections, toy and clothing collections and donations to needy schools.

Both new committees kickstarted their fundraising efforts on Friday 17 August with the ever-popular SRC Food Evening and Interact Fashion Show. Everyone attending had a wonderful evening, from the delicious international food on offer to the fun entertainment provided by musicians, singers and models strutting their stuff! Themed London Street Style, the show exuded high fashion, colour and style.
Once again, matric student Challenge Gobo led the evening superbly as master of ceremonies, and the Grade 12 boys ended the show modelling their matric dance outfits to Lou Bega's Mambo No 5.
Oakhill would like to extend grateful thanks to all the local Knysna shops and boutiques who were so willing to lend outfits – Due South, Old Khaki, Papagayo, Sportscene, Surf Culture. Tiger Lilly and Two on Toast.
