KNYSNA NEWS - Ace Models Knysna, Plett and Sedgefield took fashion back to its roots on Saturday 1 June with its Fashion by Nature Show held at Woodmill Lane.
While it may be thousands of years since humankind last wore leaves or plants in general as full-on items of clothing, nothing could stop 28 models from making their mark by leaving a green footprint all over Woodmill Lane.
The show aimed to incorporate various aspects of nature, be it by means of using recycled materials, or by literally using nature in the outfits.

Designing an outfit was as easy as pinning a few leaves on a jacket, but that definitely couldn't hold the designers and models back from conceptualising and sporting some truly incredible outfits. The models took part in four different categories, divided by age so as to provide fair competition.
The first and youngest category was age 3-9, but the fact that they looked adorable definitely didn't stop them from strutting their stuff and really working it on the catwalk. Hope Cerff was crowned the winner in this category, as she modelled a brilliant recycled outfit with all the pizazz that one could expect from a professional model.
Next was the age 10-13 category, which featured some of the best outfits that were seen on the day. In this category, Sedgefield local Jasmine Masters was crowned the winner, having worn a truly stunning outfit that also saw her win the overall prize for the day at the end of the show.
Thereafter came the models in the age 14-16 category, which also featured some impressive outfits. It was Amanda Jofirisi who was the winner in this category, with an outfit that featured both recycling and nature aspects.
Finally was the oldest category, age 17-plus, where some of Ace Models Knysna's best models took part and modelled some superb outfits. While Gemma-Lee Kiewiet modelled two outfits on the day, it was her second outfit – the one she designed herself – that won her the top prize in the category.
