KNYSNA NEWS - Just after the weekend break in the regional league, caused by the disruptive weather, Knysna-Plett Herald caught up with one of the 2025/26 season's standout coaches, Luvuyo Magadla, who is currently steering Knysna's La liga in the third tier of South African football.
Magadla, a serving police officer, has guided his side to second place on the regional league log and continues to earn praise for his disciplined approach and steady results.
His coaching journey has included spells at Flamingo, Knysna Celtics, FC United and the SAPS Western Cape team, following an earlier playing career as a lanky full-back for Knysna Bafana.
Born and raised in White Location, Knysna, he attended Thembelitsha Primary School and Percy Mdala High School before furthering his studies at South Cape College. A gifted all-round sportsman in his youth, he also excelled in cricket and rugby.
Reflecting on his journey, Magadla said: "Football has always been in my blood. Coaching was a natural step after many years in the game. I want to help young players reach better opportunities and higher leagues".
He said his current squad is a young group, mostly under-21 players, but they are committed and eager to learn.
Looking ahead, he had advice for upcoming coaches: "Modern football is more tactical. You must keep learning, stay disciplined, and always improve your knowledge."
