KNYSNA NEWS - For Mandela Day, Pick & Pay launched their Mandela Day Food drive that is aimed at collecting 250 tonnes of food to provide over a million meals.
This marks FoodForward SA’s second consecutive 2018 Mandela Day Food Drive, and they are encouraging locals to unite together to reach this goal.
“The reality in our country today is that millions continue to go to bed hungry every day,” says Suzanne Ackerman-Berman, director of transformation at Pick n Pay.
With Mandela Day around the corner, Nomfuneko Mlumiso from cooperate image encouraged Knysna locals to also take part in the initiative and approach their Pick n Pay for more information.
Pick n Pay staff will be on-hand to assist customers this 2018 Mandela Day Food Drive Collection Weekend taking place from 13 – 15 July across the country.
The food donated will then be transported to various packing events on Mandela Day (18 July) before being delivered to over 600 FoodForward SA beneficiaries.
South Africans can volunteer in-store or at the packing events by signing up on FoodForward SA’s website and selecting their closest store / packing event.
