KNYSNA NEWS - The time has come again for schools, businesses, and the people of Knysna to lace up their finest pair of tekkies for Tekkie Tax month.
The Tekkie Tax campaign is held annually to raise vital funds for the Epilepsy SA organisation, with the Southern Cape/Karoo branch in Rio Street our local beneficiary.
The campaign revolves around paying "tekkie tax" to wear some funky shoes or even civvies to work or school for a specified day. This year it is celebrated in May, a little earlier than the usual August.
In 2021, for the first time, the decision was made that the Tekkie Tax campaign will cover an entire month and participants and supporters of the campaign can choose any day in the month to dress up in support of people who live with epilepsy.
The Epilepsy SA Southern Cape/Karoo branch encourages members of the public, businesses and schools in particular to join in the Tekkie Tax fun this year.
"Supporting Tekkie Tax is a great way to raise money for charities and is a team-building opportunity for your staff and school pupils!" said the branch's marketer and PRO, Ashleigh Smith.
"You get to pick your own day to celebrate the fun that is Tekkie Tax. We ask all businesses to buy Tekkie Tax stickers and wear tekkies or dress up in something fun!
"Take photos and send them to marketing.sck@epilepsy.org.za to enter our business challenge. The winning business will be announced in the beginning of June and will be awarded a floating trophy."
To get your own Tekkie Tax merchandise - which includes laces, stickers, badges, and T-shirts - and to take part in the fun, you can contact Smith on 044 382 2155 or via e-mail at marketing.sck@epilepsy.org.za.
The Autolink team always supports Tekkie Tax.
