KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna's ongoing water issues have led to a community-led initiative to provide water to residents in the northern areas of Hornlee.
Lynn Kayster, community leader of Changes of Knysna, and Sharon Dreyer have collaborated to organise the water drive, which has gained traction over the past couple of weeks.
The German Shop also served as a central dropoff point for water donations.
Snags Construction, located at the corner of Progress Street and Vigilance Drive, served as a drop-off point for 5-litre or 2-litre water donation bottles filled with drinking water.
The community has demonstrated resilience and unity by organising this water drive, providing temporary relief and support to those in need.
Ralph Stander, chairperson of Knysna United, emphasised the gravity of the situation, stating that water is life and people need it for everything.
Knysna United is advocating for communal water tanks to be installed, and community leaders are fighting for the community's needs and essential services.
Municipal officials are urged to fulfill their responsibilities and take decisive actions to alleviate the community's distress.
The joint efforts of concerned community members, businesses, and organisations in the water drive highlight the spirit of solidarity and compassion in Knysna, working together to mitigate the impact of the water crisis and provide essential support to those affected.
