KNYSNA NEWS - September was International Tourism month; this year’s global theme is “Tourism and the Digital Transformation”.
With this theme in mind, the Knysna Visitor Information Centre hosted free photographic and social media workshops. Talented locals, who were willing to share their passion with the Knysna community, presented these workshops.
The first workshop was a Photographic Information Session presented by local photographer, Africa Vumazonke.
Africa shared his knowledge of how to use your camera, to understand what makes a good photo, as well as including some advanced creative techniques in his workshop.
Social Media Influencer, Travel bug Rose presented the second workshop.
Rose Bilbourough demonstrated the basics of Marketing, and promoting your business using various Social Media platforms, in order to access a more diverse crowd of potential customers.
The Knysna Visitor Information Centre successfully represented the Greater Knysna Area at this year’s Gauteng Getaway Show.

It is competition time!
The Knysna information office ran a mobile Photographic competition for the Greater Knysna locals to show their favorite local experiences and locations and focus on the following themes; Adventure, Activities or Food and Culture in the area.
The winners were announced at a prize-giving event, hosted at the Knysna Visitor Information Centre, on 27 September (World Tourism day). Knysna Mayor, Mark Willemse attended the event and encouraged the local Tourism Industry to embrace digital technology, and use it to promote tourism and destination Knysna.

Cape Town film producer, Patrick Walton from Shootaway productions, judged the competition, and collated all the pictures into a short video. Walton discussed the merits of the winning pictures, and their unique qualities, which gave them the competitive edge.
Sedgefield local Mark Dixon, were selected as winner, and the second and third place were awarded to Knysna residents Veronique Klein and Stuart Lightly respectively.
