KNYSNA NEWS - Learners of Chris Nissen Primary School and Knysna Primary School in Knysna marked World Book Day with vibrant celebrations that highlighted the power of reading, writing and imagination.
At Chris Nissen Primary, learners stepped into the role of young authors as they created their own handmade storybooks.
Grade Four learners wrote personal stories drawn from their own lives, reflecting family moments, friendships and everyday experiences in their own voices.
Grade Six learners explored broader themes, writing imaginative stories inspired by nature, animals and people. Their work reflected both creativity and a growing awareness of the world around them.
To enhance their storytelling, learners incorporated a mix of AI-generated images and illustrations sourced from old, unused books to give visual life to their work.
The highlight of the day was the proud reading of their stories aloud, which proved both enjoyable and educational and strengthened literacy skills.
Meanwhile, Knysna Primary School embraced World Book Day with colour and enthusiasm as learners arrived dressed as their favourite characters, bringing stories to life.
The celebration underscored the importance of reading and imagination, with learners fully immersed in the spirit of books and storytelling.
Together, the two schools showcased how World Book Day continues to inspire young readers and writers, turning classrooms into spaces of creativity and discovery.
These Grade Six learners present their written pieces that reflect a growing awareness of the world around them.
