KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Council will break for a recess period starting from 3 July until 6 July – it was resolved at a Council meeting held on Monday, 2 July.
The initial recess period was noted in the Council Agenda for more than three weeks – from 28 June until 20 July to coincide with the school holidays.
But the majority of Councillors, including the newly appointed Mayor, Cllr Mark Willemse, agreed that Council was already behind schedule on a number of issues and lots of time had already been lost due to recent changes within Council.
Councillors also expressed concern that a permanent schedule of meetings was not organised, and thus interfered with long term planning for the holidays.
Mayor Willemse stated this recess period would allow the administration to draw up a schedule which then would be put in place when Council returns from recess on 8 July.
