KNYSNA NEWS - Two Knysna boxers have qualified to represent the Western Cape at the national boxing championship later this year. The date and venue have not yet been confirmed.
The boxers, Endinakho Quthu (17) and Athenkosi Giyana (19), won their qualification fights in Mossel Bay last Saturday.
This is not the first time that they have been selected to represent the province at the national tournament.
Their trainer at the Ikamva Lethu Boxing Club, Nkqubela Gwazela, said they qualified last year, but were unable to make it due to transport challenges.
"We are struggling with many things such as transport and training space. We are renting and the space is small. We seriously need assistance as the boys are taking boxing seriously.
"And reaching the national stage at their ages means that they are going places. It is an achievement to represent a province at a young age. Our dream is to represent the country in the Olympics one day."

Quthu is excited to represent the province and fight boxers from other provinces. "This is all because of hard work and dedication. I will make sure that I represent my province very well," he says.
Giyana is also happy to have been selected. "It's nice to represent your province and I'm looking forward to it."
