KNYSNA NEWS - Since the Knysna Elephant Park's inception in 1994 over 30 elephants brought into its care have been rewilded on private reserves throughout the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, some having joined resident herds, and some having even started their own families.
The KEP has grown over the years and during this time over two million people have visited the facility.
Today, the KEP is recognised as a world leader in elephant care, having established a research facility with its own laboratory, where students and volunteers from all over the world, involved in various aspects of elephant care and behaviour, study its herd of elephants.
Festivities and special offers
The KEP is fully aware of the importance of environmental education and as such supports schools and organisations such as Rotary in their various educational projects.
The park has become an iconic tourist destination. Without the visitors from overseas and the support of the South African public, none of its achievements would have been realised. In recognition of this, the KEP will be celebrating its 30th birthday with festivities and special offers for locals this weekend, on 26 and 27 October, and invites everyone to visit the park. Here's to the next thirty years!
