KNYSNA NEWS - There are no less than seven fully functioning Interact clubs based at high schools in Knysna.
These clubs with their active members and dedicated teachers are all supported by a dedicated team of Rotarians from the Knysna Rotary Club's Youth Committee.
New boards have recently been appointed at each Interact club and the Knysna Rotary Youth Committee held its annual Interact Training Day for these new teams on 26 August.
Aside from gaining a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities as office bearers, the Interactors were able to network with each other and to discuss current and future projects.
They also got to meet Knysna Rotarians and Rotaractors and learn more about both Knysna Rotary and Rotary as a worldwide organisation.
One of the topics discussed with the Interactors was the need to develop an effective, sustainable and environmentally friendly waste management programme for Knysna, in order to reduce unnecessary landfill and stop the problem of pollution of the Knysna Eestuary.
Of course an important aspect of the day is to have loads of fun! President Herb Hunter's legendary games of "balloon netball" and "turn an Interactor into a mummy with a single roll of toilet paper" were thoroughly enjoyed by all and generated much hilarity.
