SEDGEFIELD NEWS - The staff of The Living Cornerstone, a registered NPO based in Sedgefield that cares for patients diagnosed with dementia, have announced the completion of many projects in 2024, that further enhanced the quality of the care provided to residents.
"As a team we are proud of what we have achieved in terms of the projects and goals we set out (at the beginning of 2024)," they said.
Hospital beds
"Our hospital bed project is now completed, which means that every resident now has a brand new hospital bed.
"This ensures comfort and safety for all our residents. This project was funded by various fundraising activities and sponsors.
"Our recliner chair project is completed. Every resident now has his/her own recliner chair.
"These chairs ensure the utmost comfort for our residents while receiving their pedicures or simply just relaxing in front of the TV. This project was funded by our fundraising
projects and sponsors.
Wallpaper
"We are busy with painting the inside of the house and applying some wallpaper to certain walls. This project is supported by Magma Wall Coverings and Paintsmiths George.
"The curtains in the house were replaced with blinds. This project was supported by Blind Designs and Milk & Honey Interiors.
Knysna Rotary Anns
"A brand new shower commode was purchased. This project was supported by Knysna Rotary Anns.
"New hand soap and sanitiser dispensers were installed inside and outside the house. This project was supported by Spectank.
Radio system
"A two-way radio system was installed in the house. This project was supported by Aldimali.
"A new counter top was installed outside the house and one at the entrance of the house. This project was supported by Pro Granite George.
"New downlighters were installed in the house. This project was supported by E4 Electrical and Manie Heunis Plumbing and Electrical."
Volunteers
Marietjie Digue, the facility manager at The Living Cornerstone, thanked the volunteers who formed part of the home's fundraising team, for their efforts.
“When we do the planning of a year, fundraising forms a very important part of the agenda. We plan projects according to what the most important needs for our residents are, and then prioritise them," she said.
2025 projects
"Nothing will be possible if you do not have a willing team of volunteers who are prepared to unconditionally help reach the goals.
"I want to express my sincere gratitude to the A Team of The Living Cornerstone. You made it possible that we successfully completed every project which was set out for the year and we are excited about the projects which are in the planning stages for 2025.”
