KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna police arrested a high-flyer and confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R7000 at the taxi rank in Nelson Street during a sting operation on Tuesday, 16 July.
This operation was conducted after information on drug related activities were received from a member of the public was received.
Knysna SAPs communications official sergeant Chris Spies said a search and seizure in and around the taxi rank resulted in the confiscation of 104 mandrax tablets as well as 21 bankies containing Tik, "The police arrested the 56-year-old suspect on charges of dealing in drugs. He remains in custody and will appear in the Knysna Magistrates’ court on Thursday, 18 July," said Spies.
Acting Station Commander of the Knysna police, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Gogwana, commended the police for this arrest and confiscation.
He also urged the public to continue to provide information on illegal activities to the police and said, "it is important that we work together to rid our communities of drugs that are a major contributor to serious and violent crimes as well as crimes against women and children”.
Gogwana further assured the public that similar operations will be conducted in other hotspot areas as well.
