RHEENENDAL NEWS - Over the past weekend, the Council of Stakeholders (COS) in Rheenendal launched a community-driven initiative to support learners at Rheenendal Primary School by providing essential school stationery and backpacks to those in need.
The project, led by Daniel Pompies of COS Office Management, forms part of ongoing efforts to assist vulnerable learners and strengthen community support for local education.
The initiative was made possible through collaboration with key stakeholders, including Knysna Police, Knysna Municipality and the COS executive committee.
COS also extended special appreciation to Chris Payler of Rheenendal Primary School for his continued support and involvement in school-related projects.
Funding and resources for the programme were secured through sponsorship from the Breede-Olifants Catchment Management Agency, led by Thembalani Dassie, manager at Breede Olifants George.
Pompies expressed his gratitude to the teachers who contributed to the success of the project, praising their commitment to improving the learning environment.
Looking ahead, COS plans to continue supporting the school by extending assistance to learners in higher grades, while also encouraging parents to contribute where possible. "We believe Rheenendal appreciates what we have done so far, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the school," Pompies said.
