KNYSNA NEWS - Police officers seized a pistol from a vehicle in Main Street, Knysna, on Tuesday 19 November.
Sergeant Chris Spies, police spokesperson for the Southern Cape, said the weapon was confiscated during a crime-combating operation.
"At about 08:15 members attached to the Knysna police responded to information of an illegal firearm in a vehicle," he said.
Officers patrolled the area and "spotted the vehicle parked near a building site in Main Street".
The officers searched the vehicle and allegedly found a "9mm short pistol with an empty magazine concealed inside the vehicle".
"Police confiscated the firearm and arrested a 45-year-old man on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm," Spies said.
"The suspect is scheduled to appear in the local Magistrate's Court, once charged."
