PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Several Plettenberg Bay communities received thousands of litres of free hand sanitiser as part of the town’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through this collaborative effort by Bitou Municipality and the Plettenberg Bay Tourism Association, under the guidance of the town’s Covid-19 response team, nine 5 000-litre JoJo tanks were set up in Bossiesgif, Green Valley, Kranshoek, Kwanokuthula Phase 1 and 2, New Horizons, Pinetrees and the Crags. Each tank has been filled with disinfectant, free to use by residents.
Plett Tourism’s chief executive Marius Venter led a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of the tanks and disinfectant. The funds were received from various local business owners.
The product being used is called F10SC which is a total-spectrum disinfectant and according to Venter has no adverse effects on people, animals or surfaces. It is also biodegradable. “The nine 5 000-litre tanks will be maintained and replenished over time,” Venter said.
He reiterated that the tourism sector is fully committed to the well being of all the town’s communities.
“We are excited to roll out these new hand sanitiser stations and are so grateful to the donors for making this possible.”
Residents will have the opportunity to fill their own containers as the need for sanitiser arises.
