KNYSNA NEWS - Antony Stone, to date, has won 12 awards for his short film Fracked that will be screening at the Knysna Film Festival between 29 October and 2 November, including Best Narrative and Best First-Time Director.
Apart from the two prestigious Awards of Merit in the short film and nature/environment/wildlife categories in the Accolade Global Film Competition, he has also received nods from the Indie Film Fest, Top Shorts, Virgin Spring Cinefest and LA Film Awards.
These awards were given for Stone's jaw-dropping, eye-opening, environmental-awareness short narrative film Fracked aimed at educating audiences about the consequences of fracking through charismatic storytelling.
The film features an exceptional true-to-life storyline and captivating performances by Daniel Fox, Jade Collard and Jenna Saras that take the audience into the director's vision of the dystopian future he believes awaits us if we don't all combat fracking and global warming together and immediately.
Stone, the writer, director, producer and editor of the film, says winning these awards make the chosen path for the film "the correct one".
"I believe an awarded film will most certainly reach a wider audience. The fact that fracking and global warming are problems we all face makes these awards a step in the right direction toward us all stopping the fracking monster globally for good."
These festivals recognise film, television, videography and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change.

In winning these awards, Stone joins the ranks of other high-profile winners including the Oscar-winning production The Lady in Number Six by Malcolm Clarke, the very talented Dave Bossert of Disney for his short documentary The Tunes Behind The Toons, Hollywood industry veteran Ron Howard for When You Find Me and Highwire Films Australia for their popular ABC TV series Twentysomething.
